There are numerous outdoor attractions near Wirksworth, with the Peak District National Park only one mile away. The open countryside of the Peak District has numerous walks and breathtaking views, as well as areas of historic interest. Carsington Water is only 5 miles away and provides opportunities for sailing, canoeing and bird watching. The High Peak Trail provides excellent off road cycling and walking.

Nearby towns include Matlock Bath (2 miles), Matlock (5 miles), Ashbourne, (8 miles) and Bakewell. Chatsworth House is a 15 minute drive away.

There is Gullivers Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath, which provide fun for all the family. Arkwright's Mill and the start of the canal are at Cromford (2 miles away)
